Coach Bio: Janet Cassidy

Eclipse Head Coach – Email

Cassidy spent four seasons as the head coach of the Colorado State Pueblo women’s soccer program. Under her leadership, the team boasted a conference goalkeeper of the year and All-Region selection in Savannah Thompson and reached a high-water mark in 2010, when it defeated then-10th-ranked Fort Lewis 2-1, the highest-ranked team ever defeated by a CSU Pueblo squad.

Prior to her time in Pueblo, Cassidy coached Oxnard College for one campaign, leading the program’s turnaround from just two wins in 2007 to a respectable 8-9-2 mark in 2008. She also doubled the team roster at Oxnard from 12 members in 2007 to 24 members in 2008.

Another coaching highlight in Cassidy’s career was serving as an assistant coach for the W-League professional team called the Ventura County Fusion for two years. There, she trained the goalkeeper from the England national team. She’s also coached for several club teams in the area, including Ventura County Fusion U10 girls – league champions in 2008. She’s also been the Girls’ Director of Coaching at the AC Alliance Club in Pomona.

During part of Cassidy’s first stint at CPP, she also served as the head coach at Vista Del Lago High School in Moreno Valley, Calif., where her team won the 2003-04 Inland Valley League championship in just the program’s second year of existence. Cassidy’s Vista Del Lago High School teams earned three state tournament berths in her four seasons at the helm from 2002 through 2006.

As a player, Cassidy enjoyed a great deal of success, including two seasons playing on semipro teams in California, and being the team captain during her two seasons at Riverside Community College in 1997 and 1998. She also made the USA Select team at age 13.

Cassidy is also one of the founders and the Vice President for the Cameron Paige Foundation, a foundation for kids with special needs. The foundation has given over $10,000 in scholarships to help special needs students go on to college.

Cassidy earned her undergraduate degree in fine arts from San Diego State in 2002 and then in 2012, she completed a master’s degree through Concordia University’s coaching and athletic administration program. Currently, Cassidy is pursuing a second master’s degree – it’ll be a March 2014 degree in Higher Education in Administration through National University in La Jolla.
