SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Jordan Marada of the Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week on September 5 after her five-point week (two goals, one assist) in wins against Northwestern and Cal Poly.
She tallied points in each game and was a part of three scoring plays. Against the Mustangs, Marada took three shots and scored twice. She scored the first goal of the game in the 16th minute and the third goal of the game in the 33rd minute. Marada dribbled past the goalie to find the open net for her second score of the first half.
In the win over the Wildcats, the Gaels were all tied up at 1-1 when Marada assisted with a pass to teammate Sara Ives which resulted in the go-ahead goal and the eventual win.
For the week, Marada had five points with two goals and one assist. She took three total shots and played in 159 minutes in two matches.
The award is Marada’s second WCC Player of the Week award in her career. Marada earned the award on November 1, 2010 after a two goal and two assist week during conference action.
